The heaviest GSAT-11 satellite in India, intended to boost broadband services, was launched on Wednesday by the Arianespace rocket in French Guiana.

Taking off from the Ariane launch complex in Kourou, French territory located on the northeast coast of South America at 02:07, the Ariane-5 vehicle propelled the GSAT-11 into orbit on a flawless flight of about 33 minutes. The launch was broadcast live on Doordarshan.

Indicating that GSAT-11 is going to be the “richest space asset” for India, he said that “the satellite has 38 spot beams and eight sub beams, which would cover the whole country, including the remote places … it will provide something like that. as data link services of 16 Gbps to the country “.

With a weight of approximately 5,854 kg, GSAT-11 is the “heaviest” satellite built by ISRO.

It is a next-generation “high performance” communication satellite configured around the ISRO I-6K bus with a designed lifespan of more than 15 years.

The satellite will play a vital role in providing broadband services across the country and will also provide a platform for demonstrating next-generation applications, said ISRO.
